There's no Place Like Home I just returned from my trip to California. It was beautiful, despite some chilly weather that I brought with me from Boston... San Francisco is my favorite...probably because it's funky and sweet like Boston. And, although the landscape is like nothing I've ever been exposed to (ok, besides in Italy), I really and truly missed my little Boston. (And I missed our first snowfall!!) My East Coast pride was in full effect and I just wanted people to ask me where I was from so I could proudly boast, "I'm from Boston and New Jersey!". I got misty-eyed every time I saw someone sporting a Red Sox cap.
The highlight of my trip (besides the kick-ass wedding I attended with my high school lovelies) was at the San Diego Indie Music Festival, seeing Jonatha Brooke. Even though I was far from home and feeling kinda home-sick, her music made me feel homey and warm. It's just so familiar and comforting to me. So, yay Jonatha. And, after the show, Jonatha told me that she saw my article in Performing Songwriter! I hadn't even seen it yet! I was interviewed for the "Salute to Independents" article that talks about making a living in music. I'm currently looking forward to making 2 pumpkin pies and 2 apple pies this week for my NJ Thanksgiving. Also, working on some shows for January down south. Keep watching the "Tour" page for updates.
