Fall, Fall, Fall This is the time of year when I like to start things over. Probably because I've been programmed from the beginning of each school year...new notebooks, pens, trapper keepers, etc...but I like to think it's something deeper and cooler than that...that it's really because the leaves are falling and things are turning gorgeous glow-y colors and lots of good shows are coming to town celebrating new albums and new songs, etc.
Today, I went out and bought the new Shawn Colvin CD. About a month ago, my friend, (her sound guy) gave me a promotional copy and i nearly puked I was so excited. But, this is how much of a super-shawn fan I am...i wanted all the pictures and credits and lyrics, and i want that space filled in on my CD shelf that says "I have all of Shawn's works". I'm a little crazy...I know. So, in some really super-duper rare occasion that Shawn is reading this...just wanted you to know that I didn't cheat. I bought it.
So, back to things beginning, dying, falling off trees and stuff. Not playing a ton this Fall, but trying to get a lot of writing done because I have so much to say. It's been quite a year in my world. ...Friends getting sick, long distance relationships, overwhelmed with this little music career that I'm trying to get off the ground...it's been trying for sure. So, a new album is in the works. I really can't wait to get started. Still writing, so it won't happen til next year at some point.
The Tupelo show on Saturday with Chris Trapper was just awesome. He truly humbles me and makes me want to write better songs. He invited me to sing his song "35th Birthday" with him which was great fun. Check out my myspace page to hear the demo I sang for him...minus 10 years.... "25th Birthday".
So, Cd's that I'm listening to currently...well, obviously Shawn Colvin...even as I write this... but also Jonatha Brooke's live one, Edie Carey's new one (so gorgeous), and, revisiting Sarah McLachlan's last one, "Afterglow". Chris Trapper's new one, and looking forward to getting Pete Yorn's new one, too. My Jersey boy.
Ok...I've babbled enough. Gilmore Girls always gets me in the mood to talk a lot. Go figure.
Oh! Please come to see me and my "Good Little Band" at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA on November 4th. It's my first Saturday night there and I want to make it a slammin night. Spread the word.
Lots of love and falling things,
