Summer in the City YAY!!!!! ITALY WON!!!!!!! (the World Cup, that is...)
I've been back in SWELTERING Boston for a couple of weeks now. It's really good to be home. Boston in the Summer can be really fun, when it's not too sticky and soupy out. I've already had 2 lobster dinners this season. The best was at Hampton Beach, NH on the 4th. Being from NJ, Hampton Beach was awesome...in that cheezy-jersey-shore kind of way.
The June tour was fun with Liz Stahler. I think Kentuncky was the biggest surprise to me. A really cool place called Live Wire Cafe...I hope to get there again sometime soon. The Telluride Bluegrass Festival was awesome! Though I didn't win, I feel like it was an amazing opportunity to go to Telluride, a simply GORGEOUS little town in the San Juan mountians. I had the most delightful time, especially with my personal tour guide. (Thanks, Andrea!) I learned so much about the Ute Indians that lived there, and went to the museum and took a ride up the gondola to Mountain Village. So breathtaking. I really hope to go out there again.
The Aimee Mann shows at Symphony Hall were really fun. I am smitten with my band again and wish I could take them everywhere. John Sands (my drummer) also played with Aimee on the main stage, and it was magical to see him up there with the pops, too. AHHH! I was so excited. So now, I'm trying not to have post-concert depression. They were great shows that have to be lived up to. We'll do it. (and pictures will soon be posted in the "gallery" from Symphony Hall, as well as my myspace page )
..which brings me to my next order of business...SHOW AT CLUB PASSIM ON JULY 28TH WITH DANIELLE MIRAGLIA!!! I've known Danielle for years now from town and she invited me to share this show with her. I couldn't be more excited. My guitar player, Austin Nevins, will be there with me bringing a little electric magic to good 'ol acoutsic Club Passim. Please come out..it's an all ages show with a really yummy vegetarian restuarant. Reserve tickets and dinner seating early!! Go here to get tickets.
August brings a few dates out of town...The Evening Muse in Charlotte, NC, as well as a house concert in Concord, NC, The Velvet Lounge in DC (my first time there!), and the Rockwood Music Hall in NYC. Check out the tour page for the deets.
Oh- and I'm OBSESSED with the new Keane record.
