Felice anno nuovo

Hey all,

...coming out of my post-holiday coma. January was full of song ideas, some that came through, some that are still being digested. I'm excited about the turn my writing seems to be taking. A sort of natural growth. ...no hormones involved. free range. heeheehee

This year, I'm trying to learn as much Italian that I can. My cousin, Paride who lives in Milan is kicking my butt with his grasp on English. I'm starting to feel like a lame American cousin. So, I've been teaching myself with this CD-Rom that I bought a little while ago. Starting with important questions like, "Mi puo fare un panino?" ("Will you make me a sandwich?") I hope to bring some Cifelli music to Italy one day soon.

I was in San Francisco for New Year's and that was dreamy. I love that city. It's like Boston on the west coast. Though the weather was rainy and cold (something i'm sorta familiar with), we managed to get in the important things like shopping in Ghiradelli Sq. and CD shopping at Amoeba Records. ...lots of New Years Day margueritas and bloody marys, too. It's all a blur, really.

The new year for me will include a bit more travelling, but playing as much as I can with my band here in Boston. We're playing every Sunday in February (yes, including your beloved SuperBowl Sunday) at my favorite hole in the wall, Toad. 7-9pm...no cover ever at Toad. and, they have a really silly website with a Toad on the front that talks. http://www.toadcambridge.com

In March, I will FINALLY be back to the Philly area with my first show at Grape St. And I will FINALLY be back in NYC at the Rockwood Music Hall. It's been so long.

I also want to write lots and lots so I have buckets of songs to choose from for my next album. I imagine I'll begin preparation for that late in the year. I'm sensing good stuff for 2006. .....and a very big birthday for me, too. I'm excited.

My most recent music on repeat these days...

Chris Trapper- Gone Again...(I heart Chris Trapper)

Lyle Lovett- Road to Ensenada (I FINALLY re-purchased this CD while in San Fran...it disappeared years ago from my collection and I've missed it!)

Mark Erelli- his new one...not released yet...SO GOOD.

Ron Sexsmith- any and all of them all the time (I'm really obsessed)

Slow Runner- this band that I saw open for Evan Dando last week here in Boston. Folks, these guys are amazing. GO SEE THEM. They're based in Charleston, SC. They're gonna be big.
