sssshhhhhhhh.........

Last night I hurried to the Lizard Lounge to see a FREE show of Jennifer Kimball and her all-star Boston band...followed by the amazing Boston legend, Dennis Brennan. Folks, this is the best kept secret in Boston. These players and songwriters are truly at the top of all games. Kevin Barry, & Duke Levine on guitars, Billy Beard on drums, and Ricahrd Gates on bass (from my dreamy band). The music being shared was so amazing...it felt like church...or better yet, it felt like I was being let in on a secret. The secret is that these are the best musicians in this country- no joke, and no exaggeration. I swear. They do these little Lizard Lounge gigs because they love it- the homey, elegant- funky atmosphere and they love and admire each other. It's an honor to witness. And, Kevin's whistle solo... icing.

I have been a fan of Jennifer's since she was in the Story with Jonatha Brooke (my other heroine). I'm giddy just thinking about being able to see her sing in such a small room. We're so spoiled in Boston with these musicians.

They're the best kept secret in Boston, and hopefully with the release of Jennifer's new album in January it won't be a secret anymore. ...but for now, I'm taking advantage of it.

In other happenings, I played a show at the Paradise Lounge with Dylan Connor and Todd Martin. It was so much fun...in my Halloween butterfly wings and antaennas (how the heck do you spell that?) Todd was dressed as Billy Joe, and his band members each took on the persona of a famous musician on their instrument...keyboard player was dressed as Stevie Wonder...etc..it was so fun....and funny. check out my myspace page down in the "Comments" part to see a picture of me as a butterfly... taken and posted by the wonderful Nicole Soriano. I raided my sister's basement full of leftover birthday party goodies and found lots of wings...butterfly, dragonfly and ladybug. Temporary butterfly tattoos, etc. Gotta love having a 6 year old neice. Every 6 year old little girl has an extra pair of butterfly wings, right? ;-)
