watermelon martinis SInce my last journal entry, I played the show with Edie Carey in Birmingham and had such a wonderful time catching up with her. I've been listening to her CD, "When I Was Made" non-stop...even on the treadmill.
I also had the pleasure of playing a show in the hometown of REM and Indigo Girls...Athens, GA. What a cool city. I played a show with my friend, Jason Harwell....and he is amazing. I know I've mentioned him before in my online journal, but he is worth mentioning again. Do check out his website www.jasonharwell.com and have the pleasure of listening to Jason's "Flavor of the Week" songs. He writes a new song (usually HILARIOUS) every week and posts it on his site. He even made a whole CD last year called "Flavor of the Year" from songs he wrote all last year for this website idea. And, his serious album, "alive in the fall" is incredibly beautiful.
I've been back in Boston for about a week now...settling in, absorbing and digesting everything I experienced on the road the past 3 weeks. It takes a bit of sleeping and relaxing for me to really process everything and get it down on paper...or in music. I'm just glad I know that's my process and that I'm not concerned if I take a 3 hour nap one day just before I'm about to strum a little ditty on the guitar.
Being back home is always the sweetest part of touring for me. Sorry if that sounds mean in any way...don't take it personally....I'm a self-prescribed home-body. I love being out there and I love the driving and of course, the playing, but I still get excited as I drive up the Mass Pike and see signs for Fenway Park. ...and, I love ordering watermelon martinis at my favorite neighborhood swanky tavern. Home sweet humid home -with no air conditioning.
